Welcome to the web page of the CLLE ERSS in Bordeaux !
CLLE-ERSS is one of the two sub-units of UMR 5263 CLLE (Cognition, Languages, Language, Ergonomics) research institute. It is the continuation of the Research Team in Syntax and Semantics (ERSS), founded in 1981, which merged with the Work and Cognition Laboratory (CLLE-LTC) in 2007. It is located at two sites: University of Toulouse Le Mirail and University of Bordeaux III Michel de Montaigne (Erssàb).
CLLE-ERSS's main goal is the scientific description and the formalisation of natural languages in their different components (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, lexicon, discourse), both in a synchronic and diachronic perspective.
These activities allow for collaborative work involving specialists in several domains, such as computer scientists (AI and linguistic engineering), psychologists or language education specialists.
The languages studied in the unit are varied: apart from standard and regional French - the subject of a great deal of research conducted within our team - we focus on languages as diverse as English, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish, Polish, etc.
